Analysis of the Technical Composition and Core Functions of Beam Spacer
In the complex structure of tires, although the bead spacer is not as prominent as the tread or ply, it is a key component that ensures a stable and sealed connection between the tire and the wheel rim.
It is usually located between the bead core and the carcass ply, playing a dual role of "barrier" and "transition". The existence of rubber tray is directly related to the convenience of tire installation, driving safety, and service life.
Structure and Material: The design of the Triangle rubber tire bead partition combines rigidity and flexibility. It is not a simple sheet of a single material, but is carefully constructed from multiple layers of composite materials. Its core usually uses high-strength rubber substrate, with one or more layers of fiber-reinforced layers (such as polyester fibers or nylon cords) embedded inside to provide the necessary structural strength. From the perspective of physical performance indicators, the Shore A hardness of Apex Holder is usually controlled between 60-70 degrees.
This hardness range has been precisely calculated to ensure sufficient rigidity and prevent excessive deformation during installation and driving; It also retains the necessary elasticity to adapt to the slight deformation of the wheel rim and absorb road impacts. Its thickness is also a key parameter, generally between 1.5mm and 3.0mm, depending on the tire specifications and load-bearing requirements.
For example, in heavy-duty truck tires, the thickness of the bead cap often approaches the upper limit to withstand greater radial and shear forces.
Core function: The main functions of isolating stress and ensuring sealing of tire bead separators are reflected in the following two aspects:
Stress buffering and isolation: During tire operation, the bead area is subjected to complex stresses from internal air pressure (usually 3-4 bar) and external road surfaces. The bead separator can effectively isolate the ends of the carcass ply, avoiding stress concentration. Data shows that high-quality bead separators can reduce the peak stress at the bead area by more than 30%, significantly reducing the occurrence of cracks caused by fatigue and thus extending the overall service life of the tire.
Auxiliary sealing and positioning: The bead separator, bead core, and wheel rim together form a multi-layer sealing system. It will undergo elastic compression of 0.5-1.5mm after inflation, filling the small gap between the tire bead and the wheel rim. This self tightening sealing mechanism can effectively prevent gas leakage and ensure that the annual average tire pressure loss rate is controlled at a low level (usually below 0.5 bar per month).
Process and production: Precision determines success or failure. The production of tire bead separators requires extremely high precision in the process. During the manufacturing process, the bonding between rubber and reinforcing fibers must be completely bubble free and wrinkle free. Modern production lines use precision rolling and cutting technology to ensure that the width tolerance of the bead separator is controlled within ± 0.5mm and the length tolerance is controlled within ± 2mm.
In order to ensure a perfect fit with the bead core, the cutting angle of the bead separator is usually 0 degrees (i.e. straight cutting) to ensure that it does not twist during winding and forming.
In addition, in order to enhance the bonding strength with adjacent components, the surface of the partition is usually designed with specific micro textures or grooves to increase the contact area and friction force.
